Why Join?
By being part of PCPI, your school stakes a claim. By joining, we tell legislators and other education stakeholders that we stand together to support parent involvement, parent education, and play-based early childhood education. There are thousands of cooperative schools just in North America. Many of these schools have been successfully operating for 50 years and longer.
Research supports play-based models built upon a foundation of partnership between families and teachers. Education advocates know that family involvement in a play-based model is directly connected to success in lifelong learning, and cooperative schools have been doing this very thing for decades!
By joining, you increase your presence and ours with education stakeholders and prospective families. The parent cooperative model becomes one of the pillars that support early childhood education along with Montessori, Reggio-inspired, and Waldorf programs. We hope our member directory will shout this story from the mountaintop! Without this, our voices could be lost in the crowd.
Together we are stronger.

Tools for easier parenting and a happier family
Resources for Parenting is a new sponsor for Parent Cooperative Preschools International. The owner, Jennifer Watanabe, is a long-time parent educator and parent coach. She offers tools that parents can use to make family life better.
Jennifer loves co-ops. She participated in co-op preschool with both of her sons, who are now 30 and 26 years old. She retired from Bellevue College in Washington state after 24 years of teaching parenting classes, including at some of the college’s sponsored cooperative preschools. She teaches Positive Discipline classes. She also teaches classes and workshops for parents who want to simplify their family and work life.
